1. GET THE PERFECT FIT

It’s so simple, but choosing the right size makes a huge difference. If heels are too big, you’ll slip around and it’s hard to maintain control. If they’re too small, your toes will be scrunched up and you’ll be forced to walk quite strangely. We’ve all compromised when it comes to shoe sales, but if you absolutely must get a pair that are too big, inner soles will do the trick! Fit can also refer to heel height. For some people, a 4-inch heel is never going to look graceful. Understand that and opt for a lower heel that’s just as chic.

2. WALK IN A HEEL-TO-TOE MOTION

Many people make the mistake of planting their whole foot at once, but this instantly gives you a clomping motion… not very feminine! Instead, put your heel down first and then plant your toes.

3. STOP SLIPPING

Some heels have very slippery soles, which can make you feel like you’re on an ice rink! Sole protectors (Sticky Bottoms Sole Protectors, $13.95; beauty.com) are a brilliant solution. They’re easy to apply and give you confidence to walk tall and proud, without fear of slipping. Oh, and if you’ve got a pair of those gorgeous red-soled heels we all covet, these are a fab way to protect your Louboutins and keep them looking brand new!

4. SLOW DOWN AND TAKE EASY STEPS

Because your foot isn’t positioned flat, wearing heels can automatically make your stride smaller. Don’t try rushing or taking long steps. Focus on taking easy steps at a comfortable pace, you’ll look effortless and sophisticated.

5. IT’S ALL ABOUT BALANCE, BABY!

When wearing heels the shape will naturally tip your body forward, but this can easily throw you off balance. As you walk and place your feet to the ground, try distributing weight into your heels. This will help your body to regain it’s balance and in turn, you’ll walk taller and feel confident!

I’d love to hear from YOU! Do you have any great tips or tricks for how to walk in heels beautifully? Share in the comments below…

Color Of The Moment – It’s all About Gold!

I’ve always had a love affair with metallics, there’s just something so luxe about them. The color of the moment is gold and I have to say gals, it truly is a neutral.

From decor, to fashion, accessories and homewares, gold is gorgeous! I recently fell in love with these gold glitter bow heels (pictured below), they are perfect for wedding season – or anytime for that matter.

Style Sessions – Stripe Top and Cut Off Shorts

Few things beat denim cut off shorts and a classic stripe top, they’re wardrobe style staples for every gal! When it comes to wearing simple pieces, the key to elevating your look is all in the details. This ASOS Stripe Ruffle Top is absolutely perfect (for you momma’s to be, there’s a maternity version too and it’s only $13!) and distressed denim gives classic cut off shorts a cool factor. You’ll also find a huge range of awesome denim shorts and striped tee’s here.

I’ve also been living in mirror sunglasses and a classic French Connection cross body bag, which are both great for summer days. It’s from Macy’s Backstage and oh how I love outlet shopping! I’m a major fan of Macy’s (they have everything), so shopping discounted fashion, home, cosmetics, gifts, active wear and jewelry at Macy’s Backstage is perfect.

I also wanted to make special mention of these Aerosoles brogue shoes (they’re a major trend!). The style I have is called Sweet Bet and honestly, they are the comfiest flats I have ever (ever) owned. The blush pink is beautiful, they match everything!

Tell me gals, are stripe tops and denim shorts staples in your wardrobe too? Where are some of your favorite places to shop for classic pieces? I’m always on the hunt for simple tee’s and denim, so would love to discover your go-to stores… leave a comment and let me know!

Style Sessions – Color Block Pleat Maxi Dress

If we’re connected on Instagram, you may have seen that I flew to Sydney last Friday to celebrate my sister Georgia’s bachelorette weekend.  She is getting married this Saturday (sooo exciting!) and we had a beautiful time. If you’re looking for a fun idea and something different for your bachelorette, I would definitely recommend a Flower Crown workshop with your favorite friends. We started the day with champagne and sweet treats, then started making our beautiful fresh flower crowns, before wearing our masterpieces to lunch nearby at The Grounds of Alexandra (it’s beautiful and as the most incredible food).

I wore my favorite dress right now – the ASOS Chevron Color Block Pleat Maxi Dress. It’s under $90 and super fun to wear! I styled it with my Vince Scuba Leather Jacket and also sometimes wear it with this Mavi Jeans Samantha Denim Jacket too. It sold out super quick, but sizes do pop back up (that’s how I snagged mine) so it’s worth checking back. There’s also this color block blue and blush maxi dress version too, which is so pretty!

Maxi dresses are always my go-to, they’re easy to wear and create a stylish look for day or night. You can shop more stunning maxi dresses here, they have some really good ones!

I’ve also been living in these Splendid Caracas Sandals, they’re cute, comfy and come in lots of colors. Again, flat summer sandals are essential and look perfect with shorts, skirts, dresses and jeans! You can shop my favorite sandals here, plus don’t forget to check out gladiator sandals too, they are always on point.
