Meet Our Head Stylist…
I’m delighted for you to meet our Head Stylist for this week, Tilden from To Be Bright! I’m swooning over this look, how gorgeous is her Anthropologie cape – and don’t even get me started on that Dolce Vita handbag!
STYLE Q&A WITH TILDEN:
How would you describe your style? I would describe my style as edgy, transitional and borrowed-from-the-boys. Pink is not my favorite color and I rarely wear it. As I grow and the times in my life change, so does my style. It directly reflects where I am in my life (aka graduated from college, applying for jobs and sticking to a quality-affordable budget.) Oversized sweaters are my best friends and I’ll find any excuse to wear slip-on sneakers.
Which fashion trend are you currently loving? This fall/winter, I’m really getting into the burgundy/wine colored outerwear pieces. It’s a nice change from the navy, black and grey go-to’s (at least for me!) worn too often. Another trend I want to get into is wearing a dress over jeans (and a jacket on top of course.) Call me crazy for thinking it will look chic but if Sarah Jessica Parker can get away with it these days, I might as well try it! (Her Carrie Bradshaw alter ego is my inspiration.)
What inspired you to start your blog? My blog’s original platform was to be my “online resume” where I could share more about myself than a single piece of paper could. The intention was to stand out amongst the sea of interns looking to apply for NYC summer internships. Posting fashion-related information and outfit ideas was purely a hobby until I recognized the overwhelming positive responses I got from my readers. Today, To Be Bright has organically become a fully focused personal style blog and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s truly my passion.
What is your best beauty trick? Apply a tiny amount of white eyeliner to the inner corners of your eye. This catches the light very nicely, especially for close-up portrait photos!
Tell us something not many people know about you? Before I got into blogging, I was a serious horseback rider. I started riding at age three and began competing at age seven. By the time I was in high school, I was traveling up and down the east coast every weekend to earn National points to qualify and compete in the year-end finals. I ended up getting recruited for the University of South Carolina’s NCAA Division I Equestrian Team! I competed in college for two years but after the many years of riding and showing, I decided to pursue other interests while in college. I still ride to this day, but for pleasure and fun. Maybe one day I’ll get back into competing but until then, I’ll enjoy my temporary retirement to blog!
