Christmas Shopping: Last Minute Gift Ideas – All Under $30

Can you believe it’s only six sleeps until Christmas day?! I’m completely obsessed with Christmas, so saying this is my favorite time of year would be an understatement. I live for it! However, as excited as I am, I’m usually always shopping right to the end. Each year I try to plan everything and be so organized… but there are always one or two people you realize you need gifts for. If you’re in the same boat and looking for last minute gift ideas, I’ve collaborated with Sears to help you find them!

Forget the standard last minute movie voucher, gift card or bottle of champagne… these gifts will make people think you put lots of thought into it (no one will ever know you ordered them rush delivery this weekend!)…

First, let’s talk about gifts for the gals! I want all of these for myself, but I have to keep saying “No, Lauren – they are gifts for others.” Basically every woman I’ve ever met loves a little leopard – after all, leopard is a neutral. So whether you’re buying for your sister, BFF, mother, aunt, or your second cousin’s best friend’s niece… this leopard print infinity scarf or leopard bathrobe and slippers set will be perfect! At under $25, they won’t break the bank either – and I have to tell you, the quality is absolutely there – they look and feel fabulous!

Another idea for any glam loving gal is this grey embellished quilted sweater (under $25). Oh my gosh, I’m in major love with this – I adored it online and when it arrived… ooooh! I actually bought it for my Mom, but had to seriously rethink that when I tried it on. It’s stunning and the fit is brilliant!

Now I want it for myself, but the problem is, my Mom saw the sweater sitting in my office… and she loved it the second she laid eyes on it. Now every time she stops by, she says, “Oh I just love that sweater!” so I’d feel bad if I didn’t give it to her as intended. She’ll be reading this post… Hi Mom! Good news, the sweater is yours for Christmas! (Can I please borrow it?)

Let’s talk about the guys… whilst most men I know work in a corporate office, they also love the outdoors and doing “man things”. So I found these NordicTrack convertible pants (under $30) – we all know guys love something that has a unique (yet oh-so-practical) trick to it. They can be worn as long pants, or zipped off at the knee into shorts – and the good news is, they’re surprisingly stylish! I got these as a gift for my Dad and I know he’ll be thrilled.

I also found these NordicTrack performance sports socks (under $10), they feel really well made and have cushioning in the soles. A great gift idea for pretty much any male you can think of… I’m always stealing Chris’s socks (no they don’t fit me, but I can never find my own!), so I got these for him as a little stocking stuffer at Christmas.

If you’re doing some final shopping this weekend, I hope these last minute gift ideas help!

STYLE Q&A WITH ASHLEY:

How would you describe your style? My style is a little mix of everything. I shop everywhere and anywhere.  There’s so many different styles that I mix into my wardrobe. I do love classic A-line dresses, jeans, cardigans and vests. Beyond that, I love scarves – I have too many to count, tons of drop earrings and belts. I’d define my style as feminine classic contemporary.

Which fashion trend are you currently loving? Vests and scarves this season. Two of my favorites. I think vests are great for layering and adding contrast. While scarves can really up the chic factor to a look or add much needed color!

What inspired you to start your blog? I started my blog when my husband and I moved to San Diego. Not knowing anyone, I was searching for groups to join and I stumbled upon San Diego Style Bloggers. Beautiful and stylish women! I had to join them and since I enjoy writing, love fashion and have a degree in fashion, it was a perfect outlet!

Name a couple beauty products you couldn’t live without: I couldn’t live without a palette of M.A.C Eyeshadow, Chanel Rouge Lip Gloss and Inglot Highlighter Pen!

What is your best beauty trick? I always do my mascara before eyeliner. I haven’t found many others who do this. But for me, I am able to see just how thick I need to do my eyeliner and how far to extend it. The mascara acts as a good guide and shows where I need to fill in.

Tell us something not many people know about you? I have no limits when it comes to Fashion. I am always up for trying something new and love vintage pieces mixed with more contemporary items. When I am vintage shopping, I am always on the look for unique pieces!

Gifts For Men – Under $130

I hope you found yesterday’s gift ideas under $50 helpful – you echoed my sentiments exactly… I want it all too!  Weren’t those things just gorgeous?! Today, I thought we’d tackle some great gifts for men. Keeping with the affordable theme, they’re all under $130 – I even ran them past Chris (he owns a couple already) and my Dad, who both gave their stamp of approval!

A couple of stand-outs are this Kiehl’s Skincare Set, I actually got it for Chris and my Dad last year, they loved the products and use Kiehl’s all the time now.  This iPhone extra charging phone case is the perfect present for those who are glued to their phones 24/7 – it gives you 100% extra battery (and it looks perfectly chic!).  For something scent-sational, you can’t go past the ‘Spicebomb’ fragrance from Viktor & Rolf – it even has almost 90 five-star reviews (yes, it’s that good).

These Ray-Ban classic wayfarer sunglasses are currently on sale and make such a brilliant gift (we all know the wayfarer shape suits everyone!) and this navy silk tie is such an incredible buy at only $15.

Finally, we’ve heard the buzz about wearable technology and this FitBit Charge is an amazing gift for tech-savvy, sports-loving guys! It wirelessly syncs stats to your computer or smartphone, then measures hours and quality of sleep before silently waking you with a vibrating alarm in the morning. The included mobile app lets you track food intake and graphs your progress, helping you achieve your training, sleep and fitness goals. Or for something a little more classic, this chronograph Fossil watch is seriously stylish.

Be sure to get your final Christmas shopping done by the end of this weekend, I do all mine online and it’s SO much easier. I hope you find these gifts for men helpful… there’s even a few I want, like the iPhone charge case (it also comes in this gorgeous gold color).

Wearable Technology: Moto 360 Review – A Watch for Our Times

I love it when the technology and fashion worlds collide and today, I’m delighted to share something quite special with you. Have you heard all the buzz around wearable technology? I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with Motorola and experience their brand new Moto 360 watch… and let me tell you, it’s simply amazing!

Main Watch with books 1 Wearable Technology: Moto 360 Review A Watch for Our Times

Watch on arm on leg Wearable Technology: Moto 360 Review A Watch for Our Times

I’m sure you’ll agree when I say how hectic daily life can be (and this time of year is even crazier!). Going from one thing to the next, work meetings, assignment deadlines, flights, ensuring you catch up with family and friends, important birthdays and special occasions… it’s all too much to remember off the top of your head! I rely so heavily on my diary (yes, I can be a little old fashioned) and my computer calendar has saved me from many a missed meeting… but the diary can be cumbersome in my handbag and you certainly can’t carry a laptop with you everywhere. Enter the Moto 360! Well my friends, this isn’t just a watch – far from it, this little baby can do everything!

Between running Style Elixir and Bloggers Closet, keeping me on track and where I need to be at the right time is beyond important. I’ve quickly become obsessed with the notification and update functionality this watch has including text messages, calendar notifications, emails and the blogger holy-grail… social media alerts! Yes, seriously.

I can also use voice control to do things like send text messages, Google whatever question is on my mind and check local weather for the day… yes, I talk to my Moto 360!  I’ve never felt more in the space-age.

As some of you know, I have also been working out and focusing on my health and fitness a lot more recently… #FitForThirty.  So I’ve had fun using the built-in Moto Body health tracker, which records my distance covered, number of steps taken, heart rate, calories burned and even keeps me on track with goal targets I’ve set.

Oh and for fellow app lovers, there’s a number you can add on to your Moto 360! You can do everything from WhatsApp (I use this aaall the time!), Pinterest, Facebook and Lyft to name just a few.

We’re all so connected these days and having emails, apps and technology at our fingertips is a given (it makes me laugh / cringe how dependent on internet access I’ve become… whaaaat there’s no wifi on this flight?!).  So I’ve loved experiencing the Moto 360 – it honors the timeless tradition of wearing a classic watch, but has everything we need (and more!) for our modern lives. To discover more, you can check out the Moto 360 watch here.
