As you probably know by now, I love a good beauty product. But I also believe true health and beauty comes from the inside. My diet certainly isn’t close to perfect by any means (I baked choc-chip cookies yesterday, recipe to come!) but I do try to incorporate healthy items to balance my (frequent) indulgences.
I’ve done a bit of research lately because I want to make more of an effort with my diet and discovered that eating these five super foods can help to give you gorgeous shiny hair and that coveted ‘lit from within’ glow…
Want skin that is smooth, supple and moisture-rich? Eat salmon! This is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids, as well as selenium – a mineral that can help to protect skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Another benefit? Salmon is also packed with vitamin D, keeping your bones and teeth strong and healthy. I love doing an oven baked piece of salmon – simply add a little salt, butter and thinly sliced lemon pieces on top, wrap in aluminium foil and bake until lightly pink in color. Delicious!

Another brilliant source of omega-3 fatty acids, a handful of Walnuts are also rich in vitamin-E. I love adding walnuts to salads, plus they are great with warm stewed apple and cinnamon.

Not only are these little berries super delicious, they are also ridiculously high in antioxidants. Which means they can protect you from premature ageing. One of my favorite snacks, I add them to my cereal and yoghurt in the morning, smoothies, or even ice-cream (to make me feel like I’m being healthy when I’m probably not!)

For bright, healthy and sparkling eyes, reach for some spinach. This superfood is full of nutrients and antioxidants including lutein, calcium, iron, potassium, vitamins B, C and E, omega-3 fatty acids and magnesium. I like to use spinach in salads and pastas.

Protect against cancer, heart disease and wrinkles with the humble kiwi fruit. Including antioxidants and vitamin C, this super fruit is great for promoting smooth skin, strong bones and health from within.
