I am excited to share another very special part of our wedding with you today… our beautiful wedding cake! The ‘cake cut’ is definitely one of the highlights of any wedding day and we were absolutely blown away by how incredible our cake was – the second we walked in, I couldn’t believe how stunning it turned out! I had done hours (and hours) of research and cake stalking online and knew Jen from Petite Crumb was the only person I wanted to have design and create our wedding cake. I am a big believer in referrals, reviews and giving major credit where it’s due… I also love advocating for other women in business and was so immensely impressed with Jen that I wanted to share more about her business, Petite Crumb, with you.
Of course, a wedding cake has to look gorgeous… but as they say, it’s what’s inside that counts! We has so much fun deciding on the flavours and Jen helped us create the cake of our dreams. One of my favourite things in life is chocolate covered strawberries and berries, so we created one tier of the cake chocolate flavour with fresh berries and vanilla bean frosting. Word can’t even describe how incredible it was! For another tier we chose a classic vanilla with vanilla bean frosting and finally for my gluten free friends, we did another tier red velvet with vanilla bean frosting.
They were all absolutely incredible! On the day I remember asking our waiter to please serve me a slice of each – I wasn’t missing out, I wanted to experience them all! Our cake ended up being quite the talking point, with everyone having so much fun sampling the different flavours. Both sets of parents and myself ended up fielding so many requests for who made our cake in the weeks after our wedding!
So many of our guests said rather emphatically that they hadn’t ever had a cake that tasted so delicious. As a cake connoisseur myself, I certainly agreed. The cake sponge was so delicate, fresh and light, plus the real vanilla beans in the icing gave it such a rich, decadent flavour.
Our Beautiful Wedding Cake
Our three tier wedding cake was created by Jen from Petite Crumb. It had a chocolate and raspberry tier, a vanilla tier and a gluten free red velvet tier. All covered in the most delicious vanilla bean frosting and topped with fresh flowers, fruits, macaroons, meringue’s, white chocolate drips and gold foil.
I was delighted that our cake generously served all our guests AND left us with more to take home to enjoy! We froze pieces and in the week after the wedding (when cares about fitting into a dress were long gone!), Chris and I both indulged in quite a few pieces. It was really fun and we’re looking forward to enjoying the rest on our first wedding anniversary. I actually made my parents store it in their fridge – Chris and I wouldn’t be able to resist if we had it at our house!
How stunning were the wedding cake decorations! In our early discussions, I shared some ideas with Jen and a few elements I’d like to incorporate, then left it up to her creative genius. She well and truly surpassed anything I could have dreamed of! I loved the touches of gold foil, the petite macaroons and meringue’s, fresh figs and fruits, vibrant flowers and perfectly dripped white chocolate. Jen has such meticulous attention to detail and genuinely cares about every creation, she even delivered the cake and decorated it on-site to ensure it was absolutely perfect.
I am so grateful to Petite Crumb for putting such creativity, care and heart into our stunning wedding cake, it’s what Pinterest dreams are made of! Straight after the wedding, we were all thinking of excuses to have another cake made … perhaps a birthday cake, or who knows down the track, maybe a baby shower!
If you love stalking cakes online as much as I do, be sure to check out Petite Crumb’s Instagram – so pretty and delicious! When I first contacted Jen to make our special wedding cake, I could instantly tell how passionate she is about her creations and genuinely cares about her clients. I learned through chatting with Jen that she’s been baking since she was only five years old and in 2015, made the big leap to start her own cake business. I am so glad she followed her heart and is now gracing the world with her very tasty talents! If you want to discover more, here is the Petite Crumb website.

Beautiful cake and gorgeous, sweet photos!
Your day really was perfect. I’m drooling and now I want cake for breakfast! We had an absolutely delicious wedding cake and grooms cake at our reception too. My mom saved the top and used an “air sealer” machine (carefully) to preserve it and kept it in the freezer. I swear it was just as good on our 1st anniversary as it was on our wedding day.
You look amazing and that cake is gorgeous! I love figs BTW!
