What an incredible few weeks this has been! Getting married is SO. MUCH. FUN! Our wedding day was incredible and I’ll be sharing it all with you very soon… but today, I wanted to share our amazing mini honeymoon at Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa on the Gold Coast in Australia. We truly had the most incredible vacation together, it was the perfect start to married life.

If you’re looking for honeymoon ideas, or a romantic vacation, I wanted to share our experience with you. When we arrived in the grand hotel lobby, we were greeted at reception with a glass of bubbles and some delicious chocolates, then moments later we were whisked up to our gorgeous Corner Junior Suite with ocean views high on the 25th floor.

When we arrived in our suite, we went straight to the balcony, which had the most stunning panoramic views! The beach was on one side, with blue water as far as the eye can see. On the other side, was a gorgeous mountain range (as the sun set a little later, it was breathtakingly beautiful).

We also had a perfect view of the incredible sparkling lagoon pool, white sandy beach and cascading waterfalls below us, it truly is the most amazing resort. The lagoon even has tropical fish, which we enjoyed snorkeling with during our stay!

Our Corner Junior Suite was absolute luxury! Being positioned on the corner of the hotel, we enjoyed sweeping views of the Gold Coast. One of my favorite things about hotels is of course sleeping in a luxurious bed! Surfers Paradise Marriott offered the most divine experience, with the softest sheets and a cloud-like mattress topper, it was heavenly.

On our first day, I loved spending time browsing through all the experiences and guest services offered at Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa. The room service menu was also one of the best I’ve seen with fresh, healthy gourmet options and of course a few scrumptious indulgences!

Like many newlyweds, I spent the first few days just staring at my hand every chance I got! It was quite surreal seeing the rings together on my finger and thinking, oh my gosh… we are married! I absolutely adore my oval halo engagement ring and diamond eternity wedding band. So much sparkle!

Around five minutes after we arrived in our room, there was a knock at the door and we were surprised with a chilled bottle of Moët champagne and delicious chocolate covered strawberries. We were so thrilled, what a way to start your honeymoon!

I love a good amenity kit selection and had to make special mention this one offered by the Marriott… it included a hair band! Genius! I have never seen this in a hotel before and honestly, I softly squealed with delight. How many times do you forget (or lose!) your hair ties on vacation, it’s thoughtful little touches and attention to detail like this that make the Surfers Paradise Marriott a true five-star luxury hotel.

On the morning of our second day, we enjoyed a relaxing breakfast together high in the sky at the Elandra Retreat Club lounge on the top floor of the hotel. We received a very warm welcome and relished the opportunity to start our day in this exclusive space, complete with a chef who kindly cooked eggs and omelettes to our liking.

In fact, Chris actually commented, “that was the best omelette I’ve ever had!”. I agree, all the food we enjoyed during our stay was so fresh and delicious. The Elandra Retreat Club provided the most relaxing vibe, we loved sitting in our lounge overlooking the ocean to enjoy breakfast and tea…

When we were planning our honeymoon, our dream was to spend time together, enjoy sunshine and white sandy beaches, relax by the pool while sipping cocktails and champagne, indulge in gourmet food and soak up a little luxury… the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa delivered all this, and then some.

We loved relaxing in our very own poolside cabana, sipping the most delicious Pina Coladas in real coconuts! This is what honeymoons are all about.

The resort features it’s very own sparkling saltwater lagoon, complete with an array of the prettiest brightly coloured tropical fish. During our afternoon in the cabana, we enjoyed a few hours of snorkeling – it was amazing to walk just a few steps from our cabana into this underwater kingdom.

Relaxing together in our private cabana was the perfect way to soak up the sunshine and enjoy all the resort features.

As part of our Junior Suite accommodation, we enjoyed access to the Elandra Retreat Club. In addition to a fabulous breakfast, this also included evening drinks and canapes. Located on the top floor of the hotel, this exclusive lounge boasts panoramic views of the Gold Coast, including sweeping ocean views, which are absolutely spectacular at sunset. Photos just don’t do it justice!

We adored spending each evening here together, sipping champagne and reminiscing about our wedding day. It was so much fun asking questions like, “How did you feel right before I walked into the church?”, ” Were you nervous?” and “What was your best memory of the day?”. Taking time to just be in the moment, truly enjoy each others company and connect… it’s magical moments like this, that made our honeymoon at Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa so incredibly special.

Truth be told, we didn’t want our stay here to end. However on our final day, as we floated out from this blissful dream, we vowed to return each year to celebrate our wedding anniversary and reassured ourselves the honeymoon isn’t over… in fact, this is just the beginning.
