It’s hard to believe one year ago this weekend, I was getting married! Throughout this week I’ve had little moments where I stop and remember how I was feeling at this time a year ago … there is so much anticipation and nervous excitement in the lead up to the big wedding day! But it’s true what everyone says, on your wedding day time flies by so fast – blink and you’ll miss it!

Also to set the scene on this post, I’m currently listening to the wedding day “Drive to Church Playlist” I made for when my Dad and I took that very special drive together. Many of the songs are classics, including “Chapel of Love”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” and “Today I Met The Boy I’m Going To Marry” (love Father of the Bride, we watched that movie the night before my wedding!).

Plus, there is a beautiful version of “Stand By Me” by Florence and the Machine. A few songs aren’t wedding related at all, they are just special ones to me and my Dad from childhood (eg. he introduced me to Frank Sinatra, Tracey Chapman, Harry Chapin and the Eurythmics when I was little). It was a great upbeat and fun Spotify playlist for us to listen to on the way to the church!

I loved the music from our wedding day and hand-picked every song played (I adore music). To begin the ceremony, before my bridesmaids and I entered the church, Chris and his groomsmen walked out to this incredible version of “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by Sleeping At Last. From all reports inside the church, it created a really magical start to the ceremony. The words in it are beautiful and it was such a lovely prelude before we walked down the aisle.

When I started wedding planning, one thing I knew I absolutely wanted was an amazing team of videographers. There’s something so powerful about storytelling through film and being able to capture your loved ones like this is truly special. After countless hours of researching online, reading reviews and watching other wedding videos (and inevitably crying through them! Ha… I was like come on Lauren, you don’t even know these people!), I was so lucky to come across the super talented True North Films. The incredible video they created for us is without doubt one of my most treasured items of all time. I still watch it every few weeks (and my Mum recently confessed she does too!).

As a little #FlashbackFriday moment to coincide with our one year wedding anniversary on Sunday, I wanted to share some photos and our special wedding video with you… I hope you enjoy watching it. Be sure to turn your sound up and pop the video on full screen to get the full experience!

To celebrate our wedding anniversary, we are actually going to spend the weekend in the same beautiful hotel suite we did on our wedding last year. It’s unbelievable how fast twelve months flies by. I vividly remember opening my eyes on the morning after our wedding and looking at the diamond band on my finger thinking, “Oh my gosh – we got MARRIED!”. It’s so surreal and even still sometimes I think, wow… who would have thought the moment I met Chris seven years ago that he’d turn out to be the boy I married.

I’d love to hear from YOU! Are you married? How do you celebrate your anniversary? I’d love some ideas for years to come. Also, did you find your wedding day flew by really fast too? Or if you’re a bride-to-be, when is your wedding day? Please share, I truly enjoy hearing from you and getting to know you all.
