I love finding fabulous new beauty products and always look to reviews online to see what other people think. It’s helped me find some amazing “holy grail” products over the years and in return I also enjoy sharing products I love and reviews that hopefully help you.

As you know, I’ve been at New York Fashion Week and it’s notoriously hot and humid… which is hard when you’re running between fashion shows and meetings, then have events at night. Obviously you want to look fresh and flawless for it all, so I was delighted when Olay sent me their Luminous Whip with SPF to try as I’d heard a lot of buzz about it.

What’s different about this to a normal moisturizer is that it’s also a primer, so it is perfect as the first step to keep your makeup in place all day. I really dislike products that sit on my skin and feel heavy, especially as my skin can be on the oily side in parts (hello, combination skin). However, I also have part of my skin that can get quite dry, so I do need a moisturizer that delivers real hydration.

Finding a product that offers genuine hydration and moisture, but also controls oil and shine has been really hard up to this point… so I am thrilled to have found Olay Whips! The formula is really light, weightless and it absorbs to leave a matte finish, but it still nourishes my skin with moisture where it’s needed.

I’m truly excited to have discovered the Olay Luminous Whip moisturizer and primer.

I couldn’t understand how Olay created this absolute beauty unicorn – how can one moisturizer get it all so perfectly right? I read that it’s been created with what Olay call ‘Active Rush Technology’, which transforms from cream to liquid on skin for instant absorption. I particularly love this aspect, because I didn’t have the usual absorption wait time before applying my foundation. Plus, as it’s a dual moisturizer and primer, which means I can skip a step and just use one product that does both. Yay! Total time saver… and one I’m sure my husband is pleased about (but no matter what, I’ll never get ready as quick as he does – I always say “do you want me pretty or ready on time” lol).

As far as primers perform, I’ve used the best of the best from premium brands and the highest rated primers on the market. I can honestly say that I found Olay Whips comparable and noticed it left my skin super soft and smooth… which is the number one key to flawless makeup. Amazing makeup is all about how you prep and prime your skin, when you get that step right, your foundation and makeup can effortlessly glide on.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the fresh illuminated skin look, it is universally flattering on every woman and a perennial favorite for models in shows at Fashion Week. However, when I’ve previously tried other luminous moisturizers, they really don’t absorb well and end up sitting on top of my skin, which isn’t good for makeup and keeping oily skin in check.

When I’ve been using Olay Luminous Whip it feels different and seems to absorb oils on my skin throughout the day – a total game changer. It’s so freeing to feel like you don’t have to touch up your makeup during the day or use blotting papers to keep a matte finish. Olay explained that Luminous Whips has been formulated with PearlOptics science, for enduring radiance. This leaves my makeup matte, but my skin has a bright and beautiful ‘lit from within’ look. What’s even better is with SPF25 built in, this means daily sun protection is taken care of.

I’m truly excited to have discovered the Olay Luminous Whip moisturizer and primer. It made such a big difference during New York Fashion Week this year – a time when it’s ridiculously hot, humid and you’re constantly on the go but need your glam to be on-point at every moment. I’ll definitely be purchasing this again as it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for in a moisturizer and primer.
